On behalf of Board members, thank you for visiting our homepage.
In May 2007 the Japan Society of Disaster Nursing (JSDN) initiated a committee to establish an International Society of Disaster Nursing. The World Society of Disaster Nursing (WSDN) was inaugurated on January 22, 2008 in Kobe, and 40 member organizations from 7 countries were participated. Now, the WSDN has 47 members from 12 countries.
As one of establishing member, I would like to send my sincere gratitude the first Chairperson, Dr. Yamamoto for her devotion to WSDN during the last ten years.
The WSDN is an academic association that aims to contribute to the health and welfare of people through promotion of international academic exchanges and collaborative research of disaster nursing, and systematization of disaster nursing knowledge and practice.
The biannual research conferences have contributed to fulfil the goals of WSDN.
The 1st WSDN research conference was held in Japan in 2009 with Dr. Hiroko Minami as the conference chairperson who was the chairperson of the JSDN and the former ICN President. The 2nd conference was held in Cardiff, Wales in 2012 with Professor Donna Mead, Dean at Glanmorgan University. President of Chinese Nursing Association, Dr. Li and her team conducted the 3rd conference at Beijing, China, 2014. The 4th conference of Indonesia in 2016 was conducted by Dr. Yani Achir, Professor of University of Indonesia. The 5th conference was conducted by Dr. Stefan Görres, Professor of University Bremen, and his team in 2018.
It is my sincere hope many member organizations of WSDN will come together for the next conferences.
